Every US sunscreen with bemotrizinol, from the FDA register
The FDA added bemotrizinol to the list of active ingredients permitted in over-the-counter sunscreens on June 10, 2026. The order took effect on August 9. Nine sunscreens containing it are now on the federal drug register - eight entered since that date and one six weeks before it. Three of the nine are filed under the ingredient's cosmetic name, so a search for bemotrizinol does not find them. Three of the nine can now be bought: Ultra Violette's Unblock Screen, and Neutrogena's Ultra Sheer SPF 70 and Clear Face SPF 60.
Updated October 4: we re-read the register. One more row: Juyasuyon CONCEALER SUNSCREEN, a 20 g stick at 1%, registered on September 18 under the cosmetic name. Both Neutrogena products are on sale: Kenvue announced on September 17 that they "are now available on amazon.com and will be available at retailers nationwide soon". On Ultra Violette's US store, Unblock Screen is still in stock at $40 and Fave Screen is still not available.
Updated October 1: Unblock Screen is now in stock at Sephora as well as on the brand's US store, at $40 in both places. Fave Screen is still out of stock at Sephora and waitlist-only on the brand's store. This update re-read the stores, not the register.
Updated September 20: Unblock Screen is on sale again on Ultra Violette's US store at $40, so one of the eight can be bought after all. It had been waitlist-only since September 3, and the Internet Archive shows the add-to-cart back by September 18. Both Ultra Violette products are now listed at Sephora as well, out of stock there, with dates. We re-read the store on September 20, not the register: the eight filings below are still as read on September 10.
Updated September 10: three more rows. Juyasuyon Invisible Sunscreen, a stick at 3%, was registered on September 5. Two others were already on the register but filed under the cosmetic name bis-ethylhexyloxyphenol methoxyphenyl triazine, which a search for bemotrizinol does not match: a Juyasuyon cream at 1% and an ORLASKIN sunscreen at 2%. Updated September 3: Ultra Violette's Fave Screen SPF 50 was added to the register on September 1 at 5% bemotrizinol, and Unblock Screen - the one product that was on sale a day earlier - went back to a waitlist on the brand's own store.
This page records what is registered, not what you can buy. A product appears on the register when its maker files a label with the FDA. That can happen weeks before the product reaches a shelf, and some filings never become products. Where we could check whether something is actually for sale, we say so and give the date we looked.
The ingredient goes by several names. Bemotrizinol is the name in the FDA monograph, and Neutrogena's product names shorten it to BEMT. Ingredient lists outside the US use the cosmetic name, bis-ethylhexyloxyphenol methoxyphenyl triazine. The companies that make the raw material sell it under trade names: dsm-firmenich as PARSOL Shield, and BASF as Tinosorb S. No listing in the FDA directory uses either trade name, or BEMT, as an ingredient or brand name.

What the table shows
Three of the nine are on sale
On September 2, Ultra Violette's Unblock Screen SPF 50 could be bought on the brand's US store at $40 for 50 mL, about $23.66 per fluid ounce. The next day the same page had no add-to-cart button at all, only "SIGN UP FOR THE WAITLIST" and a Notify Me box. The brand's product feed marked the item unavailable. On September 20 the add-to-cart was back at the same price, and the product data reported the item as available again. The earliest Internet Archive capture after our September 9 check, from September 18, already shows it buyable.
Fave Screen, the second Ultra Violette filing, is on the same store at $38 for 50 mL and has never been buyable; it is marked "Coming soon", and the brand has said it launches in January 2027. Sephora lists both products. Unblock Screen, which Sephora dated for September 29 online, was in stock there on October 1, 2026, and Fave Screen is still out of stock there, with a set of dates that do not agree with each other.
Neutrogena's two went on sale on September 17, 2026. Kenvue, which owns Neutrogena, said that day that the products "will be available on amazon.com at launch, followed by retailers nationwide in October". Our Ultra Sheer and Clear Face pages give the details. On September 3 neither had appeared in Neutrogena's own sun care listing or in an Amazon search.
None of the other five - three from Juyasuyon, one from ORLASKIN and one from MZANK - turned up when we searched Amazon for each brand name on October 4, 2026. So three of the nine are buyable in the US: Unblock Screen and the two Neutrogena products.
Amazon also carries a set of unbranded listings sold on the ingredient's name. We looked those up in the same register and found none of them.
Neutrogena filed two, at the maximum strength
Kenvue, which owns Neutrogena, entered two bemotrizinol sunscreens on the register on August 13, four days after the FDA order took effect. Both are filed at 6% bemotrizinol, the highest concentration the order permits. The filings so far run from 1% to 6%: 1%, 1.5%, 2%, 3%, 5% and 6%. That is not a ranking - SPF is set by testing the whole formula, not by one ingredient - but it does show how differently makers are using the new filter.
The register is filling faster than the shelves
Filings have arrived at a steady pace since the order took effect on August 9: Unblock Screen the same day, the two Neutrogena products on August 13, a Juyasuyon cream on August 25, MZANK on August 28, Fave Screen on September 1, a Juyasuyon stick on September 5 and a second Juyasuyon stick, a concealer, on September 18. One filing, ORLASKIN's, predates the effective date: it was registered on June 26. Three of them have produced products a US shopper can buy: Unblock Screen, back on sale in the middle of September, and the two Neutrogena products, on amazon.com since September 17.
The raw material is being listed too. The FDA register also carries four bulk ingredient entries for bemotrizinol itself, which is how a supplier lists a drug ingredient rather than a finished product: two from DSM Nutritional Products on August 9, one from BASF's Kaohsiung plant in Taiwan on August 28, each covering 20 kg containers, and one from SUNJIN Beauty Science on September 29, a 10 kg box filed under the cosmetic name. DSM Nutritional Products is the company that asked the FDA to add bemotrizinol in the first place.
That last point matters for who is allowed to sell. The FDA order carries an 18-month exclusivity running to DSM and to DSM's licensees, which we read out of the order itself. It expires around February 2028, and it is one reason the list above is short.
Bemotrizinol also appears on 15 older labels, published between October 2010 and January 2026. They predate the order or sit under other marketing categories, four of them filed by L'Oreal USA as export only, so none of them belongs in the table above. We list and explain every one on a separate page. A search on the cosmetic name turns up more older labels still, which we summarise with the new filings.
What we could not confirm
- Whether any of the six not yet on sale has a planned on-sale date. Only Ultra Violette has said one in public, and only for Fave Screen.
- When the Neutrogena products reach stores other than amazon.com. Kenvue said October.
- Whether the Juyasuyon or ORLASKIN products are sold anywhere in the US. Amazon was the only retailer we searched for them, most recently on October 4, 2026.
- Why Unblock Screen stopped being buyable one day after we recorded it on sale. The store gives no reason, and the brand has not published one we could find.
- Whether the MZANK product is sold in the US at all. It was not in an Amazon search on September 3 or October 4, 2026, and we found no other US seller.
- Shipping cost for any of these. We did not place an order.
- Retailers beyond each brand's own store, Sephora and Amazon. Ulta's site returned an error page on the day we checked.
How this page is built
Everything above comes from two free federal databases: the FDA's National Drug Code Directory and DailyMed, which holds the label filed for each product. Sunscreens are regulated as over-the-counter drugs in the United States, so every one sold here has a filing, and anyone can read them. We wrote up the method so you can check any product yourself.
We search the register under both names the ingredient goes by - bemotrizinol, and the cosmetic name bis-ethylhexyloxyphenol methoxyphenyl triazine - because filers use either, and a search only finds the name you type. Until September 10, 2026 we searched only the first, and this table missed two products. The third product filed under the cosmetic name, the Juyasuyon concealer, was added on October 4.
We will update this page as filings appear. Nothing here says what bemotrizinol does to skin or how well it works. Those are questions for a dermatologist and for the published research.
