Ultra Violette Unblock Screen SPF 50 Breakout-Friendly SKINSCREEN: $40 for 50 mL at Sephora and the US store, 3% bemotrizinol

This is the first sunscreen containing bemotrizinol to go on sale in the United States after the FDA permitted the filter in June 2026. It costs $40 for 50 mL on the brand's own US store and at Sephora, which is about $23.66 per fluid ounce.

Updated October 1, 2026: it is now in stock at Sephora as well. Sephora's page shows $40 for 1.7 fl oz/50ml with a working "Add to Basket" button, and the page's product data reports the item in stock. The page still prints the line "Available online 9/29. in stores 10/2". The brand's own US store is selling it at the same $40.

Updated September 20, 2026: it is buyable again. The add-to-cart is back on the brand's US store at the same $40, and the store's own product data reports the item as available. It had been waitlist-only since September 3. The first capture of the page in the Internet Archive after our September 9 check, taken on September 18, already shows the add-to-cart, so the product came back some time between those two dates. The brand has not published a reason for either change.

At Sephora the listing came before the stock. On September 20 the Sephora page was there at $40, marked out of stock, with "Coming Soon" and the same online date. On September 2 and September 3 a Sephora search for the product returned nothing. Sephora badges the listing "ONLY AT SEPHORA", while the brand's own store sells it directly.

Where to buy

Price and availability

  • Ultra Violette US store - listed at $40.00 for 50 mL. Add-to-cart was active on September 2. On September 3 the button was gone and the page offered only a waitlist.
  • Sephora - not listed on September 2 or September 3, 2026, although the brand announced it would be sold there from August 31. Six other Ultra Violette products were listed both days. On September 20 the listing was there, at $40 for 1.7 fl oz/50 ml, marked out of stock, with "Coming Soon" and the line "Available online 9/29. in stores 10/2". The active ingredients Sephora prints match the label filed with the FDA. On October 1 the same listing was in stock, still at $40, with a working "Add to Basket" button. Signed-in customers get free standard shipping there on orders over $50, and Auto-Replenish takes 5% off, to $38.00.
  • Amazon - not listed on September 3, 2026, and still not on September 20 or October 4. Other Ultra Violette products were listed on each date.
  • Re-checked September 9, 2026 - still unavailable. The store's own product data reported the item as not available, and the page carried waitlist and notify-me wording. Every other Ultra Violette sunscreen had a working add-to-cart that day. The store's site-wide banner was promoting this product at the same time, carrying the words "Breakouts are officially blocked" and "Shop Unblock Screen", which the store prints in capitals.
  • Re-checked September 20, 2026 - buyable again. The product form on the brand's page carries an add-to-cart, the store's product data reports the item as available, and the page no longer carries waitlist or notify-me wording. The same site-wide banner is still running, and now it matches what the page does.
  • Re-checked October 1, 2026 - buyable in two places. The brand's page still carries an add-to-cart at $40 and its product data reports the item as available. The Sephora listing is in stock at the same price.
  • Re-checked October 4, 2026 - unchanged. The brand's product data still reports the item as available at $40, and the Sephora listing still has a working "Add to Basket" button at $40, with an "ONLY AT SEPHORA" badge.

Checked September 3, 2026 and re-checked on September 9, September 20, October 1 and October 4, 2026. We did not place an order at either store, so we have not confirmed shipping cost or that stock is on hand; the brand store's banner offers free shipping on orders over $35. What is in it

The label filed with the FDA lists three active ingredients: bemotrizinol at 0.3 g per 10 mL, octocrylene at 0.6 g per 10 mL and zinc oxide at 1 g per 10 mL. That works out to 3%, 6% and 10%. The FDA order permits bemotrizinol up to 6%, so this product uses half the maximum.

The filing also lists a 5 mL tube alongside the 50 mL jar. We only found the 50 mL size for sale.

What we could not confirm

  • Why the product stopped being buyable one day after it went on sale, and why it came back. The store gives no reason and the brand has not published one we could find. We can only place the return between September 9 and September 18, 2026.
  • Shipping cost. We did not go through checkout while it was buyable.
  • The day it became buyable at Sephora. The page gave September 29 as the online date, but we did not look between September 20 and October 1. We also do not know why the listing was not there at all on September 2 or September 3, or why Sephora badges it "ONLY AT SEPHORA" while the brand sells it too.
  • Whether the 5 mL size in the FDA filing is sold separately.

Questions

How much bemotrizinol is in it?
3%, calculated from the 0.3 g per 10 mL in the FDA filing. The order permits up to 6%.
Is there a refill?
None was offered on October 1, 2026. None of the 27 products on the brand's US store is a refill, and a store search for "refill" returns nothing. We re-check this on every update, because brands add refills later.
How does the price compare?
At $23.66 per fluid ounce it sits above drugstore face sunscreens and in line with other Ultra Violette products, which run $30 to $40 for similar sizes. The brand's second bemotrizinol product, Fave Screen, is priced at $38 for the same 50 mL, or $22.48 per fluid ounce.
Can I buy it now?
Yes. On October 1, 2026 it was on sale on the brand's own US store and in stock at Sephora, both at $40 for 50 mL. It was waitlist-only on the brand's store from September 3 until some point before September 18, and on September 20 Sephora still showed it out of stock, with an online date of September 29.
