Ultra Violette Fave Screen SPF 50 is on the FDA register at 5% bemotrizinol

Ultra Violette filed the label for Fave Screen SPF 50 with the FDA on September 1, 2026. The filing is the first public statement of what is actually in the product: bemotrizinol 5%, avobenzone 3% and octisalate 5%. It also lists four package sizes, more than any other bemotrizinol sunscreen filed in the US so far.

The product is not for sale. The brand's US store lists it at $38 for 50 mL with a waitlist button, and the brand has said publicly that it launches in January 2027.

Price and size read from the brand's US store on September 3, 2026. Filter percentages calculated from the strengths in the label filed with the FDA. See sources.

What is in it

The filing lists three active ingredients, given as grams per 10 mL: bemotrizinol 0.5 g, avobenzone 0.3 g and octisalate 0.5 g. That is 5%, 3% and 5%.

Fave Screen shares no filters with Ultra Violette's other bemotrizinol product. Unblock Screen pairs bemotrizinol with octocrylene and zinc oxide; Fave Screen pairs it with avobenzone and octisalate and uses no mineral filter at all. The two are different formulas that happen to share one ingredient.

Where 5% sits

The FDA order permits bemotrizinol up to 6%. Every bemotrizinol sunscreen filed in the US so far has picked a different number.

Percentages calculated from the strengths in each label as filed with the FDA. Prices read from the brands' own US stores on September 3, 2026. Scroll sideways on a phone.

The percentage is not a score. SPF comes from the whole formula and is set by testing, not calculated from one ingredient: Fave Screen and Unblock Screen are both labelled SPF 50 with very different filter sets. What the number does tell you is how much of the new filter each maker chose to use.

Four sizes is unusual

The filing lists 5 mL, 10 mL, 20 mL and 50 mL cartons. Unblock Screen was filed in two sizes and only the 50 mL reached the store. Neutrogena's two filings list a 40 mL bottle and a 14 mL tube each. Four sizes on one filing is the widest range any bemotrizinol product has been filed in so far.

A size on a filing is not a promise that the size will be sold. We record what was filed and check it against the store when the product appears.

What we could not confirm

  • The on-sale date. The brand has said January 2027 in the press, but its own store shows only a waitlist and no date.
  • Which of the four filed sizes will actually be sold, and at what prices.
  • Whether the $38 shown before launch is the price it will sell at.
  • Shipping cost. We did not go through checkout.
  • Retailers other than the brand's store, Sephora and Amazon. We could not load Ulta's site on the day we checked.

Questions

Can I buy Fave Screen now?
No. On September 3, 2026 the brand's own store showed a waitlist button and no add-to-cart, and we did not find it at Sephora or Amazon.
How much bemotrizinol is in it?
5%, calculated from the 0.5 g per 10 mL in the FDA filing. The order permits up to 6%. Unblock Screen is filed at 3% and the two Neutrogena filings at 6%.
Is it the same as Unblock Screen?
No. They share bemotrizinol and nothing else. Unblock Screen also contains octocrylene and zinc oxide; Fave Screen contains avobenzone and octisalate and no mineral filter.
Does a filing mean the product is approved?
It means the maker has told the FDA what the product is and what is in it, which US law requires before a drug is sold here. Sunscreens are over-the-counter drugs in the US. A filing is not a review of the individual product, and not a promise it will reach a shelf.
