Ultra Violette Velvet Screen is SPF 40 in the US, not 50, and it has no bemotrizinol
People look for this product as "Velvet Screen SPF 50". The US version is SPF 40. That is the number on Ultra Violette's own US store, and the number in the brand name on its FDA filing. There is no SPF 50 Velvet Screen for sale in the United States.
The second thing worth knowing: Velvet Screen is a mineral sunscreen, zinc oxide only. It does not contain bemotrizinol, the filter the FDA added in 2026. It is also, on the day we checked, the Ultra Violette sunscreen you can actually buy - the brand's two bemotrizinol products were both unavailable on the same store.

Two filings, two different zinc oxide numbers
The FDA register holds two entries under this product name, filed by two different companies, and they do not state the same concentration.

Grace and Fire USA Inc. is the entity behind Ultra Violette's other US filings, including Unblock Screen and Fave Screen. Wild Child Laboratories PTY Ltd is an Australian company, and its filing is eighteen months older. We do not know which concentration is in the tube on sale today, and the label on the brand's US page does not give a percentage.
It is not the bemotrizinol one
Ultra Violette has two products on the FDA register that do contain bemotrizinol, and neither is this one:
- Unblock Screen SPF 50 - bemotrizinol 3%, $40 for 50 mL
- Fave Screen SPF 50 - bemotrizinol 5%, $38 for 50 mL
On September 7, 2026 the brand's US store showed both of those as unavailable, and Velvet Screen as in stock. The store also flagged Velvet Screen as low stock. If you came here looking for the new filter, the tracker lists every US product that has it.
Why the SPF numbers differ by country
SPF is measured on the finished formula under the testing rules of the market the product is sold in, and the number that may be printed is set by that market's regulator. A brand selling the same formula in two countries can therefore carry two different numbers on the tube. We report the number filed and sold in the United States, which is 40. We have not tested the product and we do not say what protection any number delivers.
What we could not confirm
- Which of the two filed zinc oxide concentrations is in the product sold today. The brand's US page does not print a percentage.
- Whether any US retailer other than the brand's own store carries it. Sephora's site returned a bot-protection page rather than search results on the day we checked.
- Shipping cost. We did not place an order, so $36.00 is the item price, not a total.
- Why the 2024 Australian filing and the 2026 US filing were both made, and whether the older one is still in use.
