Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Daily Face SPF 70 is on the FDA register with 6% bemotrizinol

Kenvue, which owns Neutrogena, filed this sunscreen with the FDA on August 13, 2026, four days after bemotrizinol became a permitted ingredient. It is filed at 6% bemotrizinol, the maximum the order allows. We could not find it for sale anywhere on September 2, 2026, including on Neutrogena's own site.

All figures read from the label filed with the FDA on September 2, 2026. Percentages calculated from the filed strengths. See sources.

What the filing says

The label lists four active ingredients: avobenzone at 30 mg per mL, bemotrizinol at 60 mg per mL, homosalate at 150 mg per mL and octisalate at 50 mg per mL. That is 3%, 6%, 15% and 5%. The 6% is the highest concentration of bemotrizinol the FDA order permits.

Two pack sizes are filed: a 40 mL bottle and a 14 mL tube, the tube in trays of twelve. A tray of twelve small tubes usually means a trial or sampling pack rather than a shelf item.

We could not find it for sale

On September 2, 2026 we checked Neutrogena's own sun care listing, which showed 49 products. This one was not among them. We also searched major US retailers and found only the existing Ultra Sheer and Clear Face lines, which use different filters.

That is normal. A filing is a regulatory step, not an announcement. It tells you a company has committed a formula to paper, which is why we track filings: they are public before the marketing is.

Not to be confused with

Neutrogena already sells several products with similar names, including Ultra Sheer Dry-Touch SPF 70 and Ultra Sheer Mineral Face Liquid SPF 70. Those are different formulas and do not contain bemotrizinol. The product on this page is Ultra Sheer Daily Face Sunscreen, which did not appear in Neutrogena's product listing at all when we checked.

What we could not confirm

  • Price. None has been published.
  • An on-sale date. Kenvue has not announced one that we could find.
  • Whether the 14 mL tube will be sold on its own or used for sampling.

Questions

Can I buy it now?
Not as far as we can tell. On September 2, 2026 it was not on Neutrogena's site or at the retailers we searched.
Does a filing mean it is coming?
It means the company has filed a label for it with the FDA. Most filed products do reach shelves, but the filing itself carries no date and no commitment.
Why does 6% matter?
It is the ceiling set by the FDA order, so no US sunscreen can contain more. We report the number; we do not draw conclusions from it about performance.
