ISNTREE Watery Sun Gel vs Watery Sunscreen: the US version shares only two filters, homosalate and octisalate, with the Korean gel

The ISNTREE Hyaluronic Acid Watery Sunscreen sold in the US lists four active ingredients on its FDA label: avobenzone 2.85%, homosalate 7%, octisalate 4.5% and octocrylene 9%. The carton calls it Broad Spectrum SPF 50+, in a 1.69 fl oz (50 mL) tube. The label makes no water resistance claim; its directions say to "use a water-resistant sunscreen if swimming or sweating."

The Korean Hyaluronic Acid Watery Sun Gel is a different formula. Its full ingredient list on ISNTREE's global store includes homosalate and ethylhexyl salicylate, the cosmetic name for octisalate, but no avobenzone and no octocrylene. Instead it lists four filters the US label does not: bemotrizinol, bisoctrizole, polysilicone-15 and diethylamino hydroxybenzoyl hexyl benzoate (DHHB).

ISNTREE's global store shows the Korean gel as sold out, with a notice that reads "Hyaluronic Acid Watery Sun Gel is not available in the U.S. due to OTC regulations". It points shoppers to the Daily Sun Gel, which is a third formula: Broad Spectrum SPF 30, with avobenzone 2.7%, homosalate 9% and octisalate 4.5%. The US Watery Sunscreen was not among the store's products on October 4, 2026. The US product is on Amazon instead, in a listing sold by ISNTREE Official whose photos include the carton's US Drug Facts panel with the four filters above.

We report what the labels, the FDA listings and ISNTREE's stores say. We do not describe what any filter does, and we do not rate the product.

Where to buy

Price and availability

  • ISNTREE global store (isntree-global.com) - does not list the US Watery Sunscreen. We checked all 60 products in the store's product data on October 4, 2026.
  • Amazon - a listing for the US Watery Sunscreen, 1.69 fl oz, sold by ISNTREE Official. Its photos include the carton's US Drug Facts panel: avobenzone 2.85%, homosalate 7.00%, octisalate 4.50% and octocrylene 9.00%, the same as the FDA label.
  • Amazon - two other listings use the Watery Sun Gel name but not the ISNTREE brand: a single tube sold by a seller called YFKEJI, and a two-pack branded SKINSINS. Neither listing shows which formula is inside, so we do not link to them.
  • Target - a listing named Isntree Hyaluronic Acid Watery Sun Gel (SPF 50 PA++++), which is the Korean product's name, sold and shipped by a third-party seller, SleekShop. The listing does not show a US Drug Facts panel.
  • ISNTREE global store, for comparison - the Korean Watery Sun Gel at $21.96, regular price $24.40, for 50 mL ($12.99 per fl oz), shown as sold out. The Daily Sun Gel SPF 30 at $18.00, regular price $20.00, for 50 mL ($10.65 per fl oz), and a four-pack at $72.00, regular price $80.00 (also $10.65 per fl oz), both shown as available. The store offers free US shipping over $100.

Checked 2026-10-04. Prices and stock change. Per fl oz is calculated from 1.69 fl oz per 50 mL tube. We did not work out the total with shipping, and we did not check in-store stock.

Strengths from the listing's product data and percentages from the Drug Facts panel, both on DailyMed, read October 4, 2026. The grams per 50 mL divided by 50, times 100, give the label's percentage: 1.425 ÷ 50 × 100 = 2.85. All three Watery Sunscreen listings give the same four strengths. FDA limits are the maximum concentrations in the sunscreen monograph, as reprinted in FDA Final Administrative Order OTC000039. Scroll sideways on a phone.

The label lists these inactive ingredients: water, propanediol, dimethicone, silica, ethylhexyl methoxycrylene, diethylhexyl 2,6-naphthalate, niacinamide, butylene glycol, tripropylene glycol, xylitylglucoside, xylitol, xylose, hydrolyzed hyaluronic acid, diphenylsiloxy phenyl trimethicone, lauryl dimethicone, polymethylsilsesquioxane, trimethyl pentaphenyl trisiloxane, pentylene glycol, poly C10-30 alkyl acrylate, 1,2-hexanediol, cetearyl olivate, hydroxyacetophenone, sorbitan olivate, vinyl dimethicone/methicone silsesquioxane crosspolymer, tromethamine, glyceryl glucoside, anhydroxylitol, sodium stearoyl glutamate, hydroxypropyltrimonium hyaluronate, glycerin, panthenol, tocopherol, cetyl alcohol, carbomer and xanthan gum.

How the Korean Watery Sun Gel differs

ISNTREE's global store gives the Watery Sun Gel's full ingredient list in text: 43 ingredients, beginning with water, butylene glycol, ethylhexyl salicylate and homosalate. An image on ISNTREE's Korean store shows the same 43 ingredients in Korean, with the first 13 in the same order. Neither list gives percentages. Images on the Korean store's page give the gel as SPF50+ PA++++; the US label carries no PA rating.

US: Drug Facts on DailyMed for the Watery Sunscreen (NDC 81100-505) and the Daily Sun Gel (NDC 81100-501). Korea: the full ingredient list on ISNTREE's global store. All read October 4, 2026. The Korean list uses cosmetic ingredient names: ethylhexyl salicylate for octisalate, bis-ethylhexyloxyphenol methoxyphenyl triazine for bemotrizinol, methylene bis-benzotriazolyl tetramethylbutylphenol for bisoctrizole and diethylamino hydroxybenzoyl hexyl benzoate for DHHB. We also looked for butyl methoxydibenzoylmethane, the cosmetic name for avobenzone. The list gives no percentages; positions count from the start of the list. Scroll sideways on a phone.

Of the four filters that only the Korean gel lists, bemotrizinol is the one the FDA has added to its sunscreen monograph: an order issued June 10, 2026 permits it up to 6%, and only DSM and its licensees may sell a bemotrizinol sunscreen until February 2028, as our exclusivity page explains. Bisoctrizole, polysilicone-15 and DHHB are not on the monograph's list of permitted active ingredients. On the Watery Sun Gel's page, ISNTREE's global store recommends the Daily Sun Gel instead, as "a lightweight daily sun gel available in your region".

The lists differ beyond the filters. The global store describes the Korean gel as having "8 types of hyaluronic acid", and its list names eight hyaluronic acid ingredients. The US label lists two: hydrolyzed hyaluronic acid and hydroxypropyltrimonium hyaluronate. Centella asiatica extract, fig fruit extract, astaxanthin and ceramide NP are in the Korean list and not on the US label. Ethylhexyl methoxycrylene and diethylhexyl 2,6-naphthalate are on the US label and not in the Korean list.

The makers differ too. The FDA listings for the US Watery Sunscreen name COSMAX, Inc. as the manufacturing establishment. The Korean store's product information, shown in an image, names Kolmar Korea as the maker of the Korean gel, and the FDA listing for the US Daily Sun Gel names Kolmar Korea Co., Ltd.

Mediheal's Madecassoside Moisture Sun Serum follows the same pattern: its US label lists different filters from its Korean ingredient list. See our page on the Mediheal serum.

To tell them apart: the US tube is named Watery Sunscreen, not Watery Sun Gel. It has a Drug Facts panel with the four active ingredients above, and it says Broad Spectrum SPF 50+ with no PA rating. The carton artwork filed with the FDA shows the barcode 8809800942747 for one tube and 8809800943119 for the two-tube Duo Set. ISNTREE's global store gives 8809686384204 as the barcode of the Watery Sun Gel it sold.

The FDA listings

  • NDC 81100-505, ISNTREE Hyaluronic Acid Watery Sunscreen: one 50 mL tube in a box (81100-505-02). Marketing start June 30, 2026. The dosage form is given as cream. Label dated June 30, 2026.
  • NDC 81100-508: the same name, strengths, inactive ingredients and package, with the same June 30, 2026 marketing start. The dosage form is given as lotion. Label dated August 25, 2026.
  • NDC 81100-507, the Duo Set: two 50 mL tubes in a box (81100-507-02). Marketing start August 23, 2026. Lotion. Label dated August 23, 2026.
  • All three name ISNTREE Inc. as the labeler and COSMAX, Inc. as the manufacturing establishment, and carry the same Drug Facts text. The carton artwork says distributed by ISNTREE Inc. in Seoul, and made in Korea.
  • The Daily Sun Gel is a separate product: NDC 81100-501, with a marketing start of January 17, 2024, Broad Spectrum SPF 30 on its carton, and Kolmar Korea Co., Ltd. as the manufacturing establishment. Its label on DailyMed is version 5, dated March 25, 2026. A second 50 mL listing, 81100-509, with the same three strengths, starts August 27, 2026.

A listing date is when a product was listed with the FDA, not the day it went on sale. On October 4, 2026, openFDA returned 12 NDC listings for ISNTREE and DailyMed returned 11 labels; none carries the name Watery Sun Gel. ISNTREE's other US listings are the Natural Sun Cream and the Sensitive Sunscreen, both with zinc oxide as the only active ingredient, and the Onion Newpair Sunscreen.

Was it reformulated, or discontinued?

Reformulated: the US Watery Sunscreen is not a new version of an earlier US Watery Sun Gel label. Its listings are new, the first dated June 30, 2026, and we found no earlier ISNTREE listing under the Watery Sun Gel name. What differs is the formula, measured against the Korean gel: two filters in common, two only in the US version and four only in the Korean one.

Discontinued: we found no statement from ISNTREE that the Korean Watery Sun Gel is discontinued. On October 4, 2026, ISNTREE's Korean store listed the 50 mL gel at 13,500 won, with a regular price of 22,000 won, and did not show it as sold out. ISNTREE's global store showed it as sold out, with the notice about US OTC regulations quoted above.

What we could not confirm

  • Which formula the US listings sold under the Watery Sun Gel name, on Amazon and at Target, ship, and who sells them. ISNTREE's global store says the Korean gel is not available in the US.
  • Why ISNTREE filed a second single-tube listing, 81100-508, with the dosage form given as lotion rather than cream. The listings do not say.
  • When and where the US Watery Sunscreen first went on sale. An FDA listing date is not a sale date.
  • The percentages in the Korean gel. Its ingredient list gives none.
  • Whether the Korean gel's ingredient list has changed over time. We read only the current lists on ISNTREE's two stores.
  • In-store stock anywhere in the US.

Questions

What are the active ingredients in ISNTREE Hyaluronic Acid Watery Sunscreen?
The US label lists avobenzone 2.85%, homosalate 7%, octisalate 4.5% and octocrylene 9%, and calls it Broad Spectrum SPF 50+.
Is the US Watery Sunscreen the same as the Korean Watery Sun Gel?
No. Both list homosalate and octisalate, which the Korean list calls ethylhexyl salicylate. The US label adds avobenzone and octocrylene. The Korean list has bemotrizinol, bisoctrizole, polysilicone-15 and DHHB instead.
Is the ISNTREE Watery Sun Gel mineral or chemical?
Neither version lists zinc oxide or titanium dioxide, the two mineral filters in the FDA monograph. An image on ISNTREE's Korean store classes the Korean gel as an organic, or chemical, sunscreen. ISNTREE's US listings with zinc oxide as the only active ingredient are the Natural Sun Cream and the Sensitive Sunscreen.
What is the difference between the Watery Sun Gel and the Daily Sun Gel?
The Daily Sun Gel is a separate US product: Broad Spectrum SPF 30, with avobenzone 2.7%, homosalate 9% and octisalate 4.5%. The US Watery Sunscreen is SPF 50+ and adds octocrylene 9%. The Korean Watery Sun Gel shares only two filters with them, homosalate and octisalate.
Is the ISNTREE Watery Sun Gel discontinued?
We found no statement that it is. ISNTREE's Korean store listed it on October 4, 2026. ISNTREE's global store showed it as sold out and says it is not available in the US because of OTC regulations.
